After a first career in politics I am eager to gain my licensure in Funeral Directing and Embalming. I am passionate about the quality of work product from today's funeral professional and I have my opinions about the state of funeral service in America--good and bad.

I AM NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE TO HIRE if you are seeking mediocrity, a guy who puts his personal life ahead of his profession, someone to kow-tow to out of state management, and carries baggage and drama around with him.

If you are looking for an apprentice who is deeply serious about the quality of work that comes out of the preparation room, who has an unending compassion for grieving families, who believes that funeral service is a true vocation and not just a job, and deals well with the public on all levels and in private can be deferentially irreverent, then I might be your guy.

My career has allowed me to work with U.S. Senators, governors, and interesting public and private leaders. None of that is really all that impressive compared to the work that undertakers (yes, I said undertakers) do on a daily basis to help good people through difficult times.

Families walk out of mortuaries everyday--some with positive experiences and some with negative ones. Every family that walks out of your facility should say, "This isn't the most pleasant thing to have to deal with. But Jeff Culler was compassionate, kind, on the level, and I trusted him." THAT is funeral service.

One last note: if you are looking for someone to sell pre-arrangements or burial plots or be a "needs counsellor" then save your time and mine. I am an undertaker, not a used car salesman.
